However there is another kind of primitive icon-painting. It appeared in the XVIII century as a result of the importing of the Western religious art forms as well as the secular painting - portrait, landscape and genre. Even the highly professional icon-painters sometimes felt inconvenience trying to use an unknown artistic language of the foreign culture. In both religious and secular painting they combined the icon-painting methods with those, borrowed from the Western Academic art.
