The old-believers generated an amazing art phenomenon - drawn lubok. The old-believers didn't accept printed production: they rewrote religious books in handwriting and drew the lubok pictures (unlike mass-printed lubok) on paper with tempera and ink. In old-believers' lubok you can't meet market-show heroes - Gonos, Farnos, Paramoshka and Savoska - because of the clear tendency to grandeur and comeliness. Religious and spiritual-narrative subjects apparently predominated in this type of lubok.
