Born in Lyubertsy, Moscow region. Art historian, journalist. Specialist in contemporary folk art. Graduated from Moscow State Historical and Archival Institute. Since 1991 working in the Department of Contemporary Folk Culture at the Russian Institute for Cultural Research. Occupied in the naive art since late 1980-ies. Author of number of publications on contemporary folk art.
