With all thorough and diligence did these masters paint the curls of the powdered wigs, dazzling buttons on the uniforms, wrinkles on the faces. Care for details, meticulousness, coming from disability to select the principal and forget about minor features brought about very expressive canvases: thorough, unhurried, well done. One could get a feeling of handling a document. We feel much the same as reading an unpretentious, but a genuine letter 200 years old.
