Fomichev Aleksey Stepanovich. B. 1926. Nizhny Novgorod region
Born in the worker’s family, finished 7 grades at secondary school and a technical-school, worked as an assistant of a steelmaker at the metal plant. War veteran. Wrote poetry and prose, played in home-theatre. Liked to draw from childhood, started with copying the reproductions and photographs, later turned to landscape-painting. In 1970-ies attended the art-studio for a while. Permanently painting from 1976. Works without preliminary sketches, after imagination. His favourite subjects: Russian history, reminiscences of the war-time, literary characters, scenes from peasants’ life, portraits and self-portraits.
