Katun's riverside with view to Popov island was on of Shukshin's favorite places.

Katun... Here it is rather calm and not very cold. Braky islands cover its width. He liked to come to this pebbly shore to read, to think without anyone disturbing him, to look at fast water. He liked to cloister here since childhood.
