Kondratenko Aleksey Vladimirovich. b. 1938. Moscow
Born in Orenburg region in the peasants’ family. Worked as a carpenter, studied on correspondence at the Law College, now is working as a clerk. Wrote poetry and songs for himself, read a lot of historical literature, painting since 1986, received instruction at PUAC. Began with landscapes, then turned to religious and historical subjects. His creative work is based on dramatic outlive of the historical events and their ethic evaluation. Works without preliminary sketches, mixes paint straight on canvas, in various compositions uses common schemes of painting faces and figures.

Ivan IV Vasilievich the Terrible (1530-1584), the first Russian Tsar, reigned since 1547. Defeated Kazan’ and Astrakhan’ Khanstvo, maintained the Livon War, introduced oprichnina, established trade links with England.
Chancellor Richard (?-1556), English sailor and salesman, who in 1553 reached the mouth of the Northern Dvina. Was received in Moscow by Ivan IV.
